Theatres in Logan

Logan, Utah’s historic district is home to the best entertainment in the region.

Many guests of the Baugh Motel come to Logan for the rich theatre experience.

Stay just half a block from the Ellen Eccles Theatre and less than two miles from the Old Lyric Theatre when you choose the Baugh Motel.

There’s a long history of hosting theatre groups and theatre goers at this charming, historic hotel which first opened in the 1950s. Recently renovated and featuring new furniture, carpet, and bedding along with updated technology, Baugh Motel guests can take advantage of all the luxuries of a “new” hotel while staying just a few steps from the shows.

Ellen Eccles Theatre

The Baugh Motel is the closest hotel to both Logan theatres. Ellen Eccles Theatre first opened in 1923, replacing the original Thatcher Opera House which was burned in 1912. Restored to its original beauty in 1991, the theatre now houses the biggest full-production stage north of Salt Lake City. Featuring a wide range of performing arts, there’s something for every taste at this gorgeous theatre. From hosting events for the Utah Festival Opera to serving as home for the Cache Valley Civic Ballet, there’s something magical about the atmosphere at the Ellen Eccles Theatre. Dubbed the “crown jewel” of entertainment in Northern Utah, the European architecture and neoclassical design includes an ornate grand foyer and stunning balconies—perfect for a night out on the town.

Old Lyric Theatre

The Lyric Repertory Company, known locally as the Old Lyric Theatre, is located on the University of Utah Campus. Just 1.5 miles from the Baugh Motel, the theatre was founded in 1967 and has been showcasing dramas, comedies, classics, and musicals for over 60 years. Professional performance artists work alongside the advanced USU theatre students at the Caine College of the Arts to bring “one of the best-kept secrets of Utah’s thear scene” to Logan, as raved by the Salt Lake Tribute. The original Lyric Theatre opened as an opera house in 1913, but was destroyed in a fire. The restored, expanded theatre opened in 2001 and has been dubbed the “crown jewel of center street.”
